Sayyid Khalid receives Ali Al Habsi 

24 Aug 2020 Muscat:Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) today honoured Ali al-Habsi, national football team captain and goalkeeper, on the occasion of his retirement. Al-Habsi was received by Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad al-Busaidi, Chairman of OOC, in the presence of Taha bin Sulaiman al-Kushari, Secretary-General of OOC, and Mohsin bin Hamad al-Masroori, OOC Board Member.

 Al-Habsi announced his final retirement in a tweet published on his account which he said, “After years during which I had the honour to represent many clubs within the Sultanate and abroad, today I announce the end of my tenure as footballer. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to all those who supported me and I hereby reiterate my willingness to serve my homeland from other podiums.”

 

Sayyid Khalid takes part in IOC meeting

19 July 2020 Muscat: Sayyid Khalid bin Hamed Al Busaidi, Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) Chairman, participated on Friday in the meeting of the 136th session of the International Olympic Committee headed by Dr. Thomas Bach, IOC President. The meeting was attended by members of the Executive Office, members of the International Olympic Committee, heads of international federations and national Olympic committees.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was held for the first time via video conference. Dr. Thomas Bach started the meeting with his speech in which he touched on the importance of sport in light of the global pandemic and urged for uniting the world. The meeting, organised on social media and websites, was seen by about half a million people around the world. The meeting also reviewed the topics listed on the agenda and issues related to the development of the Olympic Movement.
